I just wondered if publishers actually look at this site? Has anybody had an enquiry from said body? I'm just testing the water to see if there has been any success because of this site. I must admit that it is a useful tool to gauge opinion of our work. It seems there is an initial flurry when a pitch is posted then peters out to nothing.

To: Zaziwe Jo,

I am new to the technology of this strangely complicated web site and this appears to be the only way I can reply to your queries about my novel.

It is publsihed by 'Lulu' and reviews are readily viewable on Amazon where it is listed under both my name and the title FORGOTTEN DIAMOND.

A diamond with an incredible provenance and value re-appears after nearly one hundred years of concealment and its possessor in desparate need of money decides to sell it at auction. Other folk are after it too resulting in a chase pan Switzerland and Spain when they become involved with the chickens of Santa Domingo de la Calzada.

Hi Claire
if you want it that badly you'll find a way to get a video up. With so many friends you must know someone who can do it, even if it's just on their mobile phone. You have certainly got a lot to write about. I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful self on my computer screen!
love
Jo

I can't upload a video or audio thing because I wouldn't know how; still, and more importantly for sure, I write truly wonderful things garnered from the truly wonderful life I've had so far ... running a prostitution racket, growing shed loads of weeds from an industrial unit in hull, head booker in a model agency for 3 years (my first job), and my sister's a drug addict and been in nick most of her life. I have a glamorous life, I earn lots of dough, I have lots of friends and go to lots of parties and snort lots of coke, but all I want to be is a fucking writer! Someone, somewhere, get in touch ... I've written loads and it's all great. I'm gorgeous too, if that helps ...

These messages are very encouraging.
Is this a site publishers/agents would come to regularly?
I'm a bit confused by Julian's comment 'hence the free content' is this site going to become somewhere you have to pay to be?

Just read through this thread. I actually work in publishing and came across the Meet the Author site accidently when browsing favourite authors one evening. Am not sure how many professionals are aware of it and part of me (selfishly) hopes they remain unaware otherwise everyone will be chasing the same things! But I've certainly tagged a few pitches and passed them to people I know. I liked the Thomas Dowling one.

I'm not sure about publishers but know that agents do visit the site because i have already had some interest in my pitch by a couple. Hoping that will eventually lead me to the right publisher!

Hi , Thanks for this useful question .
You may not know , the site has really only been launched this week . Up to now it has been in beta testing , hence all the free content .
However, the short answer is YES . Literay Agents and publishers are starting to use the site daily . One of the recent pitches is in the process of being formally adopted by an agent ,we have learnt today .
This week we have the site on BBC radio and other Radio and media and this will be the public launch of the site .
We just want lots and lots of people using and enjoying the community.
We already have a major bookselling web site interested in listing and selling their customers books [ even self published] , a deal we hope to put in place very quickly .

keep sending in the pitches . As an ex publisher and with 35 years in the trade I can tell you that the quality of ideas is really amazingly high , and this in itself prove to be a vital site for publishers to visit . Wouldn't you ? You may have a story about a wizard called Harry , or something similar . ??
