Impossible? Perhaps, but this story is all about the extremely unlikely.
A runt bloodhound puppy has been reared by Victoria, the eighteen year old daughter of Dick Parker, Veterinary Surgeon, whose wife has just taken off with a red-nosed American Marine. Victoria has a place at university but decides to take a year out and keep house for her father and more importantly to keep Dick and Gore from mutual destruction.
Victoria?s devotion to the duty of looking after and rearing the young dog leads him to become imprinted with her as his mother. The two become so close that Victoria is able to tune into Gore?s thoughts which are truly amazing. She hears him voicing opinions and is embarrassed by his frequent bad language and unacceptable behaviour.
Gore is a handsome, intelligent animal but he is a rebel and the story is built around the failings of the human animal he thinks he is, and the persistence of his doggy instincts.
This book is different, it is fun, the possibilities for more stories about the protagonists are endless and pet owners could begin to look at their animals in another light after reading about absurdly amusing situations taking place in the Parker establishment.
