Riff-Raffles was published in Thailand (ISBN 978-974-8478-05-0) in June 2007 and is a humorous account of my experiences since moving from England to Thailand and running our small hotel in Pattaya.

Having received numerous positive reviews from the local and national press as well as on various web sites I am hoping to see the book published in the U.K.

I am presently writing a sequel which should be completed by the end of this year and ongoing stories can be found on my Blog at www.riffraffles.com.

I received an e-mail this morning which I will post as follows:

Dear Kevin,

I am an American (AGE 50) who has been to Pattaya several times. I must say your book Riff Raffles is positively brilliant. I read the
exerpt about Mrs. Boss and the Stiletto pool ball sinking and I was sold. I immediately ordered the book to be sent from Thailand. I was not disappointed.

But I must say that particular part about brownie points and black marks is one of the greatest literary prose on understanding (er, well explaining) the fairer sex. (Sometimes not so fair)

Best of good fortune to you. I am sure you have had requests for more stories written in your unique stlye. I am among those requesting
such a favor!

Respectfully,
David Manix

I bought the book to read on the plane which was taking me home after a long holiday in Thailand. I think I have a pretty good sense of humour and am therefore difficult to please as most humour is so predictable.
Riff-Raffles actually had me laughing out loud on occassion. With all the twists, turns and disasters it is a miracle that the author remains working in the hotel trade.
A must read for anyone who likes a laugh. If you feel jinxed this book will show you that there are other people in the world with worse luck than you.

Incredible I came across this site doing some research about new writers for an article I am writing for a magazine and I saw this article - I read this book last week on a flight from Singapore to USA. It was given to me by a friend who said it was hilarious. I have to agree, I laughed so much the stewardess actually asked me to keep a little quieter as I was disturbing passengers endeavouring to sleep.

The pitch here is okay but it really does not do justice to what really is a very down to earth book about life in the East and it is heavily laced with dry wit throughout.
