Sandra Shevey`s 2006 Chelsea Festival talk about Hollywood and the corporate image reprises as a talk at venues all over London.
Focusing upon the extent to which Hollywood suppresses and reconceives the identities of its stars, Sandra draws upon her own vast knowledge as a megastar interviewer (1968-1984) whilst reflecting upon personal associations with many of those whom she has interviewed.
The talk is the basis of a book which she has been researching since 1972 when she piloted a seminar on ethnicities in film at the University of Southern California.
The book will draw upon Sandra`s own archive of off-the-set stills of many stars from the golden age in varying degrees of `makeover` including Clark Gable, Robert Stack, Ida Lupino, Joan Blondell, and Rita Hayworth.
The book will also contain rare interviews with stars of the golden age, ie Joan Blondell, Peter Lawford, Debbie Reynolds, as well as starmakers, ie Lillian Burns Sidney, Solly Biano.
